Trevor's journey began during one of life's toughest chapters—a separation that left him raising his children while searching for a way to heal. Music became his lifeline, his therapy, and ultimately, his calling. What started as quiet sessions on the veranda with his neighbor Charlie, teaching basic chords and discovering melodies, evolved into a catalog of deeply personal songs that resonate with audiences across Australia and beyond.
Drawing inspiration from legends like John Denver, the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, and America, Trevor creates music with real depth and meaning. His approach is organic and authentic—sometimes a song arrives in a few hours during a long drive, sparked by a conversation or a fleeting thought. Other times, it takes years to build the perfect expression of an emotion or experience.

Despite being unable to read or write traditional music notation due to dyslexia, Trevor possesses an extraordinary gift: he creates tunes and lyrics that flow naturally from his mind and guitar. He's self-taught in singing, guitar, drums, percussion, and keyboard—proving that passion and dedication can overcome any obstacle. His Australian Songwriters Association recognition in 2012 (top 35 original lyrics) validates what his audiences have known all along: this is music that matters.
The Making of "Another Day"
The dream of making an album seemed impossible until Trevor counted his songs one day and realized he had more than enough material. With encouragement from fellow musicians, his wife's unwavering belief, and his children singing his songs around the house and at school, the dream transformed into a tangible goal.
Everything changed when Trevor met producer Rory O'Donnell—an amazing musician who instinctively understood Trevor's vision and helped develop his tunes into fully realized songs. Together with Mark Paltridge (Sparky) on drums and Bec Paltridge providing stunning backup vocals, they created something truly special.

Though friends now tease him that he didn't sing quite so well back in those early camping days, Trevor's dedication to his craft has transformed him into a compelling performer whose voice carries both technical skill and emotional authenticity.
The Original Mack Band
What began 15 years ago as solo performances at the end of Georgia Street has evolved into The Mack Band—a powerhouse quartet bringing Trevor's stories to life with professional musicianship and undeniable chemistry. The transformation happened when drummer Doug Lavery from Axiom recognized that Trevor's songs deserved a bigger stage and a fuller sound.
The lineup came together through serendipity and shared musical vision. Brisbane guitarist David Keresztes and bass player Will Clayfield, both with impressive international touring credits, joined forces with Trevor and Doug at Trevor's studio. After intense rehearsals, they delivered their first show opening for popular country artist Adam Harvey—and audiences immediately responded to their authentic, powerful performance.
The Mack Band's style has been described as "Easy Rock," channeling the spirit of Peter Frampton, Fleetwood Mac, and America while incorporating vocal harmonies reminiscent of Little River Band and the Eagles. With solid musical structure and relatable lyrics, they consistently deliver premium entertainment that connects with diverse audiences.

Trevor's songwriting process is beautifully organic and unpredictable. Sometimes he's driving along when a phrase or saying suddenly crystalizes in his mind. Other times, he's mid-conversation when a few words spark an entire song concept. The melodies often arrive unbidden—tunes that jump around in his mind and flow naturally from his guitar when he picks it up.
Some songs emerge fully formed in just a few hours, while others require years to properly develop. Trevor loves the spontaneity of picking up his guitar and simply singing whatever thoughts are present in that moment. This authentic, unforced approach results in songs that feel genuine because they are genuine—born from real emotions, real experiences, and real life.
It's a gift that transcends traditional musical education. While Trevor can't read or write music notation, he possesses something perhaps more valuable: the ability to feel a song, to hear it in his soul, and to bring it into the world in a way that connects with listeners on a deeply human level.
